New Additions to the Chicken Coop

We recently acquired new hens from our friend, Christina. They are beautiful young hens that are beginning to lay eggs. Our flock now stands at 30 hens and 1 rooster.

In addition to our original hens, we now have Red Star, Black Australorp, Buff Orpington, White Leghorns, Jersey Giants, and Rhode Island Red chickens.

We have been pleased with the colorful assortment of eggs our hens have been giving us.

Farm-fresh eggs are delicious!

We typically allow the hens to free-range during the day. Recently, we have been confining the chickens to the coop and their outdoor run. It is garden planting time at our house and the chickens have been enjoying "undoing" our hard work. When the garden has been fenced, the hens will once again return to their foraging.

Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
Psalm 103:1-2
