German Shepherd Puppies

The puppies have grown and grown and now they are 7 weeks old!

This is "Puff" our largest female pup. She will be quite silver when she is full grown.

This big guy is one of the largest males. His legs and paws are huge. He weighs almost 14 pounds already!

Velvet is a beautiful little girl. Her markings are quite striking. She will soon be going to her new home.

This litter of pups is quite social and very loving. People are important to them!

Another Winner!

Judy Angwin, one of our friends and customers, won Best of Show at Montana Fair this summer! She took the prize with a hand-knitted sweater she made from Foggy's fleece!
Congratulations, Judy!

Green Grass and Grazing Sheep

Grace Valley Farms has been receiving lots of rain the past few weeks. As a result, our grass is very green and growing like crazy!

The sheep have been enjoying the plentiful vegetation!
He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works. He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth. - Psalm 104:13-14

Spring Sheep Report

Grace Valley Farms' spring lambs have all arrived! We are enjoying more sleep as there is no longer a need to check on the mamas during the night.

Cinnamon had a set of big twins! Her boy was over 16 pounds and her ewe lamb was around 13 pounds!

Dorcas delivered our only set of triplets this year. They were all boys. One is white, one is black, and one is gray/variegated.

Her little white guy is rather cute!

Heather was the last to deliver. She finished us off with a nice set of twins.

The older lambs are growing rapidly and learning to eat hay and grain.

Dorcas and her triplets are doing well and have graduated to our big outside sheep pen.

Our biggest baby is Hannah's wether lamb

Many of the lambs have gotten their baby coats.

These little coats will help keep dirt and hay out of their wool.

The grass has started turning green and we are looking forward to the flowers blooming and the trees budding out!

Happy Spring!

Cheep, Cheep, the Chicks Have Arrived!

Our spring chicks have arrived!
We have 32 pullets composed of three different breeds - Rhode Island Red, California White, and Araucana.

The chicks are growing and their feathers are starting to come in!

New Little Lambs!

Our lambs have started arriving! Meet the new babies!

Delores was the first to deliver. She had a single ewe lamb. After Delores had her baby, she suffered a prolapse. Our vet came right over and fixed her up. In this picture she is wearing her retainer and harness. She will need to wear it for 14 days.

Dora came next. She had a set of twin rams lambs.

Hannah delivered a spotted ram lamb out in our pasture. He's a beautiful boy!

DonnaLisa's early morning delivery was a tiny ewe lamb. The little baby is doing well and learning to nurse on her own.

Shearing Day 2015

The 54 sheep at Grace Valley Farms were sheared last weekend! Shearing went very well and we had a jolly crew turn out to work in the barn. We again have a beautiful array of freshly-shorn Romney fleeces. We are excited to share them with you!

Karsten came back and sheared for us again. He did a great job! The white sheep were sheared first.

After each sheep was shorn, the fleece was brought in the shop where the ladies skirted it.

Gretta's fleece was beautiful!

After the white sheep were shorn, we moved on to the colored sheep. This is Frosty being shorn.

Judy, Emily, Betsy, Danielle, and Diana where a part of the skirting team.

All the new fleeces lined up and waiting to be cataloged.

We are currently in the process of cataloging the fleeces (taking pictures, recording color, staple length, fleece weight). There should be around 45 fleeces for sale this year. If you are interested in being on our mailing list, please contact us and we will keep you updated on our fleece offerings.
