First Hay Cutting of 2013

The cool, wet spring we had this year was excellent for growing grass. After the storms moved out of our area, we had some hot, sunny days to finish growing the grass. Our fields were soon ready to harvest.

Our neighbor came over one evening and cut our hay with his swather.

The hay fields yielded large windrows.

After the hay had dried and been baled, Benjamin stacked the hay with his bale wagon while Doug supervised.  Each load weighs over 3 tons.

Here comes a load of delicious hay in from the field!

We ended up with 64 large round bales and 685 small square bales.

The hay appeareth, and the tender grass sheweth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered. - Proverbs 27:25
